After completing this semester you will be able to apply your research in more coherent areas of Design such as User Design interface. You will be able to understand and apply the Human factors, Ergonomics in their design development and display independence and confidence in exploring the options to work with external resource people.
Brief Description of the semester:
This semester trains students to research, analyze, and evaluate the design and its social and environmental implications. You study the best design writers and thinkers both contemporary and evergreen. Seminars by experts on the Contemporary practice of Art and Design will take you to even higher standards. This semester is designed towards developing methodology, rooted to contemporary theory (by way of structuralism and post-structuralism), through which students may articulate the significance of cultural artifacts such as art, mass media and digital culture. Rather than building the developments of culture as the fulfillment of any kind of natural order, whether that order be based in rationality, mysticism, or otherwise, the semester reviews the development of art and visual culture in the industrial and post-industrial ages as a wholly human-invented affair, and as such, subject to critical response from a multitude of studies invested in human affairs. Modern Design Theory is a research and discussion platform with a focus on visual culture. You will explore modern design ideas in this semester and activities by adept people who give rise to new design theories. You are offered a comprehensive formalization of design that is independent of any design domain or object and explains invention, creation, and discovery within the same framework and as design processes. This semester develops design ideas, and to evaluates computing systems. Doing Design Ethnography is about one particularly influential approach: Ethno methodologically informed or inspired ethnography. This approach focuses distinctively on the embodied work practices that people use to conduct their everyday activities and to concert them with others. It enables system developers to factor the social organization of human activities into IT research and systems design and to do so with respect to its real-world, real-time character. Product Design Studio session this semester will encourage students to take up multidisciplinary group projects with a high degree of project closure and advanced presentation. Students will get more clarity in their prior learned subjects and employing the design process is iterative, active, and analytical ways utilizing prototyping, testing, and comparative research. Projects work with outside partners and completed proof of concept(s) models are critiqued both inside and outside the university. This semester is a rudiment to the final year project. Here you will explore a wide range of topics that covers diverse areas of research for the project. This semester includes on-site research, analysis. The semester is spanned between theory and practice, which will enable you to reflect critically on art, design and visual practices as they relate to issues of sustainability, politics, and social justice. This semester put students on writing, discussions and interaction with mentors to refine their skills. The semester will also provide opportunity to resolve issues of representation of ideas, workable models, planning, and execution.

Semester wise overview
In this semester the student is taught to propound sense-making: learn to think critically and create meaning with communication artifacts. Also, given stress on social intelligence: learn to understand a defined audience and create communication artifacts that speak to them, that drive them to act. You develop adaptive thinking: to express abstract ideas in a concrete way, to communicate them clearly. You are able to have a design mindset: learn to create communication artifacts that persuade, that produce desired outcomes. Finally and most significantly you develop cognitive load management: to filter and focus information into communication artifacts that engage, that persuade a defined audience.
Brief Description of the semester:
This semester brief the history of modern visual and media cultures. The conventions and techniques of old media- rectangular frame, mobile viewpoint, and montage are vividly described. Relationship between the language of multimedia and nineteenth-century pro-cinematic cultural forms, functions of the screen, mobile camera, and montage in new media as compared to cinema, etc becomes a part of your daily discussion. Then you study Principles of New Media. The emphasis of the project on individually planned design projects that involve considerations of interactions with product/communication system, a wide range of requirements of different users and scope for visual, formal and structural innovations. The project is supported by theoretical information and assignments in the complementary nature of systematic and creative thinking in the various stages of the design process and visual, structural and functional analysis of the design system. The outcome of the project will be in the form of an innovative and conceptual design proposal that reflects the student’s understanding of the design process. You will develop and present in the form of appropriate and tangible design solutions including models, graphic solutions, etc. This semester will brief on the importance of the portfolio, and different types of portfolios and methodology in systematically developing individual Project portfolios. Also, this semester briefs about portfolio‘s for a different purpose. The semester will provide ample information and knowledge of different digital and manual methods to build your portfolio.
